Flexible Service Points for Modern Public Spaces: Designing for adaptability and connection

Our service pods, desks and counters are the result of over 25 years’ designing for libraries, education and community spaces. Throughout this period, we have navigated the sector’s shift from traditional book repositories to multi-purpose community hubs, designing our products to respond effectively to the requirements of these increasingly dynamic environments.

Our desks are designed for:

  • Flexible service delivery — adapting to deliver a broad range of services.
  • An ergonomic fit — adjusting to the specific needs of multiple staff members.
  • Connection and accessibility — responding effectively to the diverse needs of patrons.
  • Long term spatial agility — evolving to meet shifting service models over time.

Below, we detail how our products align with these objectives.

Height adjustability

To support well-being and accessibility, all our service desks feature LINAK electronic height adjustability. An AS 1428.2 compliant adjustment range of typically 720mm to 1120mm ensures staff can sensitively respond to customers of all heights and abilities, while delivering a broad range of services. This flexibility also enables team members to tailor the desk to suit their own proportions and the task at hand, minimizing the risk of injury from poor posture and overuse.

Interactive, ergonomic design

Our open, curved desktops are thoughtfully designed to support natural movement, creating human-centered service areas that provide a comfortable fit and a warm welcome for visitors. There is room to optimally position equipment, leaving plenty of space clear for tasks and customer engagement.

The curved meeting ends, paired with seated-to-standing height adjustability, facilitate smooth customer interaction and provide extra legroom for seated exchanges. Additionally, the low-profile, open desktop ensures staff can effortlessly maintain clear sightlines across the floor.

Modular and mobile

Designed to stand-alone or group together with support modules, our service desks offer the flexibility to configure service areas to the requirements of the space. For even more versatility, we offer a range of mobility levels, ranging from static free-standing counters to desks with lockable castors. This modular, mobile approach, combined with height adjustability, makes the desks easy to adapt or repurpose as needs evolve.
