Project Focus: A modern library service desk upgrade
Greenlease Library is the main academic library serving Rockhurst University students and faculty. The library is a spacious and modern, multi-level learning environment, which provides designated spaces for both collaboration and quiet study.
When Library Director Laura Horne-Popp and her team decided to upgrade their service desk, they were looking for something that felt contemporary and welcoming. In particular, they wanted a desk that provided sit-to-stand height adjustability and a comfortable space for staff to work alongside students within a relatively compact footprint.
The team opted for our height-adjustable YAKETY YAK 307 Island Counter, designed specifically for use as a stand-alone service desk in open library space. The dual meeting ends encourage comfortable interaction between staff and customer, while height adjustability enables staff to easily adjust the desk to meet their own and student’s needs.

Customer Feedback
“The desk provides the welcoming tone we wanted in a service point for our library. It has proven to be very flexible in meeting the needs of our various staff as it can be customized to fit each of our preferences for desk height. Our patrons also appreciate the spot to set their bags and backpacks when they come to the service desk.” Laura Horne-Popp, Library Director.
“It really raises the bar!” Tyler Johnson, Research Learning and Assessment Services Librarian.
