A more welcoming way to connect at Brookwood Library

Organization: Hillsboro Public Library, Oregon
Library: Brookwood Library
Key Contact: Karen Muller, Library Manager, Administration
Project Focus: Staff stations positioned through the library

Brookwood Library is one of two Hillsboro Public Library locations, serving the diverse community of Hillsboro, Oregon. The library building is a bright, open and welcoming public space that is generously proportioned. It features wide sightlines and clearly defined areas for browsing, learning and community connection.

The team wanted to extend staff presence throughout the library floor without anchoring service to a single fixed point. The solution was a series of four YAKETY YAK 103 Pods, positioned at key points across the library and clearly signposted as ‘Staff Stations’. Each pod gives staff a fully functional, ergonomic workspace wherever it is needed most, making help easy to find for visitors of all ages.

The 103’s oval form and compact footprint make it ideal for open floor deployment, it is friendly and approachable without being imposing. A vivid Marina blue barrel with a clean Snowdrift worktop makes each station easy to spot across the floor, perfectly complementing the library’s bold, blue interior.
