\u201cWe really liked the idea of separating into two service areas so that we have a desk for traditional reference assistance, and a separate staff location where we can do more in-depth patron help with one-on-one tech sessions. We had originally planned to have them together as one unit, but having them separate out is working even better. As far as the height adjustability, it is a great help when doing check-in, check-out and processing holds.<\/strong> Some of those tasks are better done while standing for manoeuvrability to sort things where they need to go. Additionally, with our old circulation desk those who had mobility issues or were in a wheelchair were not at eye level with staff. \u201cWe appreciated the support provided by Yakety Yak.<\/strong> Paul provided recommendations of potential layouts at the various locations, the model of desk and the support unit, and potential colour palate. We worked through the recommendations and together refined the proposals. Once the Purchase Orders were issued, the library was kept informed during the manufacturing process, and the delivery cycle.<\/em><\/p>\n

The stunning outcome has been noted across all five libraries.<\/strong> As to the actual colour palate \u2013 the new service desks certainly \u2018pop\u2019 and cannot be missed! Library staff have observed that there has been a perceptible increase in engagement with students<\/strong> and answering their enquiries.<\/em><\/p>\n

The fact these units are readily moveable has already been appreciated.<\/strong> The library tested a completely new location at the Science Library, however feedback from both students and staff, proved negative, so an alternative location, closer to where the former service desk had been located, was able to be easily set up within one hour on a Friday afternoon! That swift change of location has been appreciated. So, in summary, we are delighted with the outcome.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cGeorges River Council recently refurbished their Customer Service Centers\u2019 and sought a more welcoming and efficient customer experience, with moveable customer service points to utilize the flexibility of the multi-use space. From the staff\u2019s point of view, having space for two mounted screens set up side-by-side has been invaluable for our council services work, both on the 103 and 104 pods. The surfaces are easily cleaned, and in quiet periods staff can sit at the pods.
